Appointments & Cancellation policy
We operate by appointment only. In general, we ask that you arrive 5-10 minutes early for your appointment. We try our best to see everyone in a timely manner, early arrival helps us complete any paperwork prior to your scheduled appointment time so that you have ample time with the doctor.
- For patient safety we do ask that all dogs be on a leash no longer than 6 feet long and all cats be in a carrier.
- If your pet is reactive to other pets or people we ask that you inform our receptionists on check-in, so we can best accommodate your pet during their appointment. If you feel waiting in the lobby is not best for your pet please feel free to call us at 717-393-8245 and check in over the phone. We will bring you directly into an exam room when one is available.
- In order to allow ample time for each patients exam, as a courtesy to others, we reserve the right to reschedule your appointment if you are more than 10 minutes late.
- We do have a cancellation and no show policy. If you cancel an appointment, no show, or reschedule in less than 24 hours 2 times, we will require you to pre-pay for your exam fee at the time of scheduling.
- Technician appointments are for certain services, like nail trims, anal gland expression, lab work, and other select things. These appointments are scheduled with a technician and not a doctor. Technicians can not diagnose or prescribe medications so if you have any concerns then it will need to be rescheduled with a doctor.
Surgeries & drop off appointments
Surgeries:
What to expect on surgery day. Upon arrival each patient is given an estimate for all services being performed that day. We will also go over a consent form for the day. The consent form confirms the surgeries, procedures or treatments being performed that day. It also confirms CPR or DNR preferences in the event that it is needed. We will also ask for an emergency contact number. This is used to contact owners post procedure to give an update, but it is also used in the event of an emergency and we need to speak with an owner ASAP. Payment is expected upon pick-up. See information below for payment options.
Drop-Off Appointments:
To help accommodate busy schedules (for both us and clients) we offer Drop-off appointments for established patients. This allows owners to drop off patients to stay in the hospital to be seen. Patients are examined and owners are called once a diagnosis, treatment plans, and recommendations are ready. We then schedule discharge of the patient later in the day. Drop-off's are permitted on a case by case basis, as we are able to work them into the schedule. Patients being dropped off must be current on all vaccines.

payment optionsPayment is expected at the time of service. In order to focus on our patients' needs, customer service and minimizing costs we do not bill or payment plans.
We accept all credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, etc..) checks and cash. As stated before we do not bill or accept payment plans. Although, we do accept Care Credit as a form of payment. It takes just 5 minutes to complete an application online. Care Credit allows you to make low monthly payments, interest free for 6 months and no annual fees. You can apply online from your phone or computer at www.CareCredit.com for instant approval. |
pet health insuranceAnother option for your pet is pet insurance. After paying for your visit with us, you submit a claim and a copy of your invoice directly from your desktop or mobile device to the insurance company and they will reimburse you for certain products and services. We will send medical records to the pet insurance companies via e-mail when they contact us.
There are many pet insurance options available. Each insurance company has different plans which cover a variety of services. For more information about pet insurances and which one would be best for your pet, we recommend contacting the individual companies and discussing with them what you would like your insurance to cover. Below are some links for the more common pet insurances we see. |
Returns
Similar to human pharmacies, we do not permit any returns or exchanges of pharmaceutical products, even if they are unused. Some products are guaranteed through their manufactures; such as, prescription foods and joint supplements.
Prescription Refill Policy
Our hospital receives a large volume of requests for medication refills daily. We respectfully request all pet owners monitor their need for refills closely. After your request is made, it may take 24-48 hours to compete your medication refill. This includes authorizations for online pharmacies and regular local pharmacies. For compounded and special order medications we ask for a 10-14 day notice as they often take a longer time to prepare and ship to you or to our facility.
For online pharmacy prescriptions, we can digitally authorize refill requests for Chewy, VetSource, and 1-800-Petmeds. Any other online veterinary pharmacy will need a hard copy written prescription. Clients will need to pick up a physical prescription at our office and mail it into the pharmacy of their choosing. There is a small fee to produce the written prescription. This is to cover the cost of the special fraud proof paper on which it has to be printed. This can take 24-48 hours to be signed by the approving doctor and printed to be ready for pick up. Some regular human pharmacies carry veterinary prescriptions/medications. We can call these prescriptions into those pharmacies by speaking directly to the pharmacist unless the medication is a specified controlled substance. Some controlled substances require a physical prescription per the pharmacies' policy, and for those items a physical prescription will be provided following the same guidelines as listed above.
We understand that sometimes accidents happen and a medication gets spilled or a miscommunication in the home allows medication to run out earlier than expected. When this happens and one is calling for a refill please let the staff know and we will do our best to accommodate the situation with a refill as soon as we can. However, we can not always guarantee same day refills.
Medication refills will be addressed Monday-Friday between 8am to 5pm. Prescriptions can not be filled on Saturdays, Sundays, or Holidays. Any requests placed after the hours listed above will be attended to the next business day.
Please remember that in order for us to prescribe medications, the law requires a yearly physical exam every year that the medication is prescribed. Some long term medications require monitoring blood work every 6 to 12 months depending on the medication.
